For those, like myself, that are not familiar with it can you give us a quick description of the Granite State league (GSL)? Is it a NH AAA level or local town level.... and how this "playdown" is structured
Thanks for posting Admin

GSL, town teams and most AAA orgs in state are in it. Before this year teams had to be in the GSL to go to Regionals and Nationals, so that kept the AAA programs in it. Tier 1 through 5 at each age level. Usually AAA major programs would be in tier 1 and minor teams would be tier 2, town programs could choose any tier they wanted. So in a minor year AAA teams will play against towns major teams. Like this year PeeWee tier 2, AAA 2001 teams got eliminated by 2000 teams. NH East Eagles is not a town team who always play down a tier so they have a better chance of winning and moving on rather than playing at the level they should.

In MA all town teams are combined Major & Minor years. This year town Pee Wee teams were ages 11 & 12. Is this the same or different in NH?

Not sure about smaller towns, but Like Concord, Dover, Hanover, all have peewee 1 (2000) and peewee 2 ( 2001).

Mostly true..the PeeWee team from NHE has a Mix of 2000/2001 kids...not strictly 2000. The organization doesn't place kids on teams according to year of birth year like other orgs. Just about half of the organizations in the GSL do this too. Over all record was 12-5-3...looks to be tiered correctly to me.

NH East has 3 peewee teams, if there is a mix of 01's on their peewee 1 team it is not more than 1 or 2 skaters.

I was told there were at least 6 2001 kids on that team, out of 16 I think. Does it really?Point is they try to put like skilled kids together instead of like aged...sometimes make a better team.
